At St Nicholas' School, we aim to nurture, develop and stretch our pupils’ talents and interests.  We are committed to providing a challenging and dynamic curriculum, which provides opportunity and supports our More Able and Talented (MAT) learners.

All our pupils are challenged at their level through differentiated activities that extend their learning and curiosity. Lessons are differentiated appropriately, providing challenge and pace.

Teachers provide open-ended tasks that encourage critical thinking, problem solving and creativity. For example, more complex puzzles, deeper exploration of a topic, advanced language and literacy opportunities, such as extended storytelling or writing, help stretch pupils’ abilities.

In addition, teachers support all children by consistently fostering independence, encouraging them to take risks in their learning and asking though-provoking questions that require deeper reflection.

Opportunities with peer collaboration with similarly able children and personalised learning journeys also contribute to ensuring that all children are challenged and remain engaged according to their ability.

We endeavour to provide a stimulating experience for all our pupils, both inside and outside of the classroom, through co-curricular clubs and societies, enrichment activities, workshops and trips, visits by outside speakers, and competitions to aid in enriching their learning.

"We are super proud of our daughter but also absolutely recognise the encouragement and support she had from her teachers at St Nicholas' in really helping her to achieve strong GCSE results.

Her ambition and determination now are so very much down to the support she had at that time.  Thank you and your academic team again and wishing you all the best for the future academic years."
