INSIDE THE CLASSROOM AND MORE

Branksomewood, our purpose-built Nursery and Infant building, is a bright and stimulating learning environment, with distinct teaching areas for our younger children:

  • Role Play Area - Creating a familiar environment to reenact scenarios, explore feelings and learn through play.
  • Science Enquiry Area Providing the opportunity to research, explore and investigate.
  • Arts and Crafts Area Developing fine motor skills through mark making, junk modelling, cutting, gluing and painting.
  • Construction AreaProviding building, engineering and STEAM activities.
  • Linked Learning Zones - Enhancing independent exploration with daily activities linked to their learning journey.
  • Small World Area - Encouraging sharing, negotiating and playing together through pretend play.
  • Branksomewood Hall - Where celebration assemblies, performances, music, drama and PE take place.

The Nursery children also benefit from the use of our Junior and Senior School facilities such as the:

  • Junior LibraryWeekly story time with our Librarian, children choose a book to share at home.
  • Dining HallWhere a choice of freshly cooked nutritious food is served to our Nursery children that stay for lunch.
  • Pritchard Hall - Our Nursery children are exposed to performing in our purpose-built auditorium.

EXPLORING OUTSIDE

In the Nursery and Infant Department, children's learning is significantly enhanced by their access to and use of our outdoor facilities.

Our Nursery children have the opportunity to play in a variety of different environments:

  • Sheltered Area - Providing access to activities and play in all weathers.
  • Nursery and Infant Playground - Soft-surface all-weather playground with access to a variety of equipment.
  • Nursery and Infant Back Playground Nestled in the trees, story time and picnics are brought outside.
  • Climbing Equipment - Enhancing co-ordination, physical strength and negotiation.
  • The Castle Developing gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination and providing physical challenges.
  • Trim Trail - Building cognitive ability, core strength, balance and coordination.
  • Playhouse - Encouraging socialising through creativity and imaginary play.
  • Mud Kitchen - Connecting to nature whilst developing fine motor skills, roleplay, exploration, and social skills.
  • Giant Sand Pit - Aiding gross motor development movements such as digging, lifting, scooping, pushing, and pouring.
  • Outdoor Classroom - Improving engagement and wellbeing whilst aiding environmental awareness.
  • Woods - Weekly Forest School sessions enhance exploration, investigation and understanding of seasonal changes.
