Applying for a Place

We are delighted that you are considering St Nicholas' School.

Our admissions process below aims to make registration and enrolment as easy as possible, whilst ensuring that we are the right school for your child.

We welcome both boys and girls aged from 2 years and 9 months into our Nursey and Infant School, and girls all the way through to 16 in our Junior and Senior School.

STEP 3: Register for a place

The first step of the admissions process is to complete our Registration Form below.

Once our Admissions Team has received this form, along with a non-refundable registration fee of £100 (plus VAT from 1 January 2025), you will receive an acknowledge receipt in writing that your child is on our entry list.

At this point, we will also require a copy of your child's latest school report and will keep in close contact with you to keep and answer any questions that you may have.

STEP 4: Taster day

Once your registration form has been reviewed and we have the availability, where possible, we will invite your child to attend a Taster Day.

This is the perfect opportunity to experience life at St Nicholas’ School, enjoying a fun-filled interactive day, taking part in a wide range of activities and meeting current pupils and staff.

During the Taster Day, your child will be allocated a buddy who will meet and greet them and look after them.

STEP 5: Entrance Exam (Senior School entry only)

Year 7 entry
Once registered, your child will be invited to join us for our annual Entrance Examinations where they will be asked to complete a computer based CEM assessment, in Verbal, non-verbal and numerical ability. We do not advise any special preparation for our examinations. These tests have been selected to provide us with your daughter’s true potential whilst highlighting her all-around profile.

They will also complete an English creative writing piece and have an informal discussion with a member of the Senior Management Team.

During this time, we will reach out to their current school for a confidential reference.

Year 8 entry and above

Once registered, your daughter will be invited to join us for an Entrance Exam where she will be asked to sit an assessment in Mathematics and complete an English Creative writing piece.

STEP 6: Offer of a place

Nursery - Year 6 entry
Subject to availability, offers are made within a week of receiving a positive school reference. Your offer letter will be accompanied by an Acceptance Form and a copy of our Terms and Conditions; to accept the offer, all parties with parental responsibility for the applicant must sign and return the completed form with the deposit of £500 to the Admissions Team before the date specified in the offer letter.

Year 7 entry
Subject to availability, offers are made within a week of the Entrance Examination. Your offer letter will be accompanied by an Acceptance Form and a copy of our Terms and Conditions; to accept the offer, all parties with parental responsibility for the applicant must sign and return the completed form with the deposit of £500 to the Admissions Team before the date specified in the offer letter.

Year 8 entry and above
Subject to availability, offers are made within a week of the Assessment Morning. Your offer letter will be accompanied by an Acceptance Form and a copy of our Terms and Conditions; to accept the offer, all parties with parental responsibility for the applicant must sign and return the completed form with the deposit of £500 to the Admissions Team before the date specified in the offer letter.
